Mealtime at Center of Gravity is a special time when all of our students and teachers come together to nourish their minds and bodies! Meals are served family-style with the teachers coaching students through serving themselves the appropriate amount of food for their size and hunger level. Teachers and staff sit with children during meal time and enjoy pleasant conversation.
Children are never forced to eat but rather encouraged to taste new foods and teachers explain eating as being responsible and caring with our bodies.
All meals are prepared by our Food and Health Coordinator.
We follow state standard guidelines for serving healthy meals and snacks in child-sized servings. Please see our attached sample menu for examples of meals served over a week. Special emphasis and care is put on including whole grains, healthy fats and fruits and vegetables in each meal.
Animal protein is only served twice per week in the form of turkey or chicken and sometimes fish.
Farm boxes arrive once per week for our food program from our farm partner, Be.Love.Farm. Families have the opportunity to purchase boxes to create a food-home connection with nutrition!
